Making of a cookie !

Ok, so it has been so many years since I landed here and the thought of making cookies had never crossed my mind...All of a sudden last week, I wanted to bake some cookies...Asked DH and he was excited abt the idea too....I dont like to work with eggs, so googled some eggless cookie recipes and got some..We decided to make the Basic Butter cookies for starters...We got the ingredients needed and were supposed to bake some on monday....The first step was to preheat the oven to 300F..I started at the oven for a long time...There was a knob and I did not know how to set the temperature !!!! Luckily DH fixed it by asking for a replacement and I was all set...Made the cookie dough as per instructions and put it on the tray...When I slipped the tray into the oven and shut it, the fire alarm started beeping...Then we opened some windows and put on the exhaust fan and it was ok...15 minutes after we put the cookie into the oven, a wonderful smell was filling up the kitchen and in another 15 minutes it had spread to the whole house..Indeed the cookies tasted as good as they smelled..I am glad that I made the attempt to try something new atleast at the end of this year !!!!
